Conference Tours

Every year, IUT offers educational tours to Conference participants. Padua and the surrounding Veneto region are exceptionally rich in cultural monuments and offer a number of attractive choices. For the pre-conference tour, we have chosen a boat tour that will include three World Heritage villas and their gardens. The afternoon walking tour of Padua on July 2nd take in some of the most important sites in the historic city center. Finally, since Venice is not far from Padua, we are happy to facilitate arrangements for those wishing to visit that splendid city on their own before or after the conference.

Villa, Garden and River Tour — Veneto

Pre-Conference Full-Day Tour
Tuesday, 30 June 2020
9:00 a.m. — 6:00 p.m.

The Veneto region between Padua and Venice is home to a number of historic villas, built over the centuries for wealthy Venetians seeking to escape the summer heat, which collectively comprise a World Heritage site. Our tour with an English-speaking guide will take us first to the 16th-century Villa Foscari, designed by Andrea Palladio, 29 kilometers/18 miles east of Padua, then by boat along the Brenta canal, past villages and more villas to the town of Mira and the 18th-century Villa Widman, with its extensive gardens. After a substantial lunch in Mira, we will visit the Baroque palace of the Villa Pisani, with frescoed ceilings and a garden maze, before returning to Padua, where we expect to arrive around 6:00 p.m.

Tour cost per person: $105 USD / €95
