Keynote Speakers:
Deborah Hall
Deborah Hall is an experimental psychologist with a PhD from the University of Birmingham in the UK. She has spent most of her career at Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham, but in early 2021 joined Heriot-Watt University Malaysia as Professor of Positive Psychology. The author of more than 170 journal articles, her primary focus at present is strengthening positive education across Heriot-Watt. In addition, within the positive education portfolio she is conducting research to evaluate student benefits and offering practical coaching of students and staff within a number of campus-wide programs.
Janina Tosic
Janina Tosic teaches first-year engineering students at the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany. Guided by strong trust in her students, she focuses on building positive relationships with them to foster their personal and academic development and facilitate learning. Her research centers on supporting equity in the classroom through better communication and innovative pedagogy.
Irene Nikandrou
Irene Nikandrou and Leda Panayotopoulou teach Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management at the Athens University of Economics and Business, with a special interest in applying the systemic approach for creating high quality connections and promoting learning. They are the joint recipients of the 2019 IUT McKeachie Award for their presentation ‘A Systemic Intervention for Engaging First-Year Students: The Context Matters.’
Leda Panayotopoulou

Matthew Winslow
Matthew Winslow earned a B.A from Macalester College, an M. A. from UC Santa Cruz, and a Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Minnesota. He joined the faculty at Eastern Kentucky University in 1998, where he teaches general education and upper division courses in psychology, both in-person and online. Dr. Winslow has won many teaching awards, including the 2017 Acorn Award, the highest honor for teaching excellence presented by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education. He was the inaugural coordinator of the Faculty Innovator program at EKU and is the Teaching Enhancement Coordinator for the Psychology Department. His recent focus has been on spreading #ungrading across the curriculum.
